About Us

Currently, Holgate Methodist Church is used not only as a place of regular Sunday worship, but also houses a playgroup and toddler group, is headquarters for a large number of Scouts and Guides, as well as being the offices for the York Schools & Youth Trust (YoYo). Also on offer is a form of alternative worship, Messy Church, held monthly, which sees a thriving amount of young people and families attend, whom worship through crafty activities, sharing in food, and a short child-friendly worship session.

Holgate Methodist Church was officially opened on the 14th September 1910, with the first services being held on the 18th. Originally the current church building was planned to be only a Sunday School, with the main Church being built on the adjacent land, which now acts as a grass playing field. During 1999, extensive renovations were made to modernise the church.
