We are pleased to say that our building is open (lockdowns allowing) for a number of activities. YoYo are in residence, and we are holding occasional prayer meetings. However, we are yet to re-start our Sunday worship, and instead are meeting online, with our sister churches of Acomb and Southlands.
This used the Zoom Video conferencing software. Presently three churches, Holgate, Acomb & Southlands are meeting at 10:30am each Sunday, for a time of worship, which includes worship songs, bible study, and some prayer together.
This coming Sunday, we are also hosting our annual memorial service at 4:00pm, where we remember those we have lost, and reflect on the losses of this last year.
To access each service, you need a device with a microphone and ideally a camera, you then need to download Zoom, from www.zoom.us and then you’ll need to follow the link below, or type the meeting id, and password into the software to enable the meeting. If you would like to join us but are not sure if you have the right technology available to you, please do get in touch and we will do our best to either confirm your setup or find an alternative using your existing devices.
Each Sunday from 29th November 2020 – Our 10:30am & 4:00pm Meeting
The following link, will now be used, each week, for our Zoom service. We’ll only change it we require to for security reasons – do check back here, just in case.

We linger after the ‘worship’ to continue to ‘be church’, in conversation in different physical church groups. This is the time where we catch up with one another, share concerns, and develop ways in which we might express God’s love in our context practically…so do stay for that if you are able.
For those who missed last week’s shared time, the following is our minister, Andy’s reflection on Angela Storer’s sharing with us on Acts 15:22-41 – Paul & Barnabas Fall Out (you’ll find more Sunday’s on our You Tube channel or Facebook page).c
Sylvia Bunting was leading the circuit service this Sunday. The circuit service is also available each week, at the same time as our Zoom, so if you would like to watch it live, or afterwards, then click subscribe and you will be sent a link each week. Feel free to join us, after our Zoom, for coffee. If you’d like to watch both, I will try and post them on this email each week.
Alternatively, if you’d like to worship with a more contemporary service, then please find a link to our sister church, at Copmanthorpe.
A few other events coming soon, you may like to join and engage with….
Our new monthly circuit family worship too place again in November. For those who missed it, you can join in here…
Finally, a regular evening prayer slot, led by various of the circuit preachers and ministers is available most weeknights between 7:00-7:20pm

As additional alternatives, the Methodist Church centrally is directly people towards live-streamed services from Wesley’s Chapel in London, and service sheets. The live-streamed services can be found on YouTube. Services takes place Wednesday 12:45, Thursday 12:45, Sunday 9:45 and 11:00, and will be adapted for no physical congregation. Alternatively the service sheets are available on the Methodist Church’s website, and contain short acts of worship that you can do from home. There is also a helpful document online detailing information of services being broadcasted on TV and Radio.
If you are in self-isolation and need any help, please feel free to reach out to us. Our members are happy to help doing things like shopping, picking up prescriptons and running errands.
Welcome to Holgate Methodist Church! Whilst our church still has a “traditional” Sunday morning worship, and the occasional Sunday evening worship, we also have a monthly Messy Church, which is a more craft based worship suitable for families. During the week the church is in frequent use by the Scouts, Guides, and Playgroup, as well as hosting offices for York Schools & Youth Trust.
